Gym & playcentre goers enjoy sampling advertising campaigns in H1.

Let’s face it – everyone loves a freebie, and our gym and playcentre goers are no exception! The past few months have seen some great sampling campaigns from advertisers including L’Oreal, Vita Coco and Ribena.

Sampling is a great way to get your brand into the hands (and homes) of your target audience to drive trial of your product and increase future sales. Our venues are ideal for sampling with dispensing units positioned at reception, changing rooms, cafe or entrance/exit.

We have had some great advertisers using sampling to reach their target audience in our gyms and playhouses throughout the first half of 2017…


L’Oreal wanted to promote their Vichy slow ageing face cream in front of an image conscious, professional female audience. They utilised our elite city health club pack, distributing samples in 20 of our London David Lloyd and Virgin Active clubs to get Vichy into the hands of their target audience.


To get their Minis drink into the hands of parents with young children, Ribena ran a sampling campaign across 200 playhouses, driving trial of 500,000 bottles by giving them out to parents as a take home gift.


Meridian wanted to drive trial of their new protein nut bars in an active environment. 10,000 bars were handed out to gym goers by personal trainers at the end of group exercise classes and proved to be very popular with members.


To drive trial of their new fragrance ‘Wanted’, Azzaro distributed samples in gyms where members are 44% more likely to buy expensive aftershave. 50,000 samples were trialled by men throughout the campaign.

Vita Coco

Vita Coco wanted to tap into the January New Year’s resolution buzz by leaving gym goers a sample of coconut water in their locker as a post-workout surprise along with a money off coupon which helped achieve a 6% sales uplift in January.

“The samples went down really well, they’ve all gone from the lockers so we will have to restock. Members enjoyed the taste of the product and there was lots of chat about Vita Coco to our personal trainers.”
