Boomerang Media raise awareness of COP26

Boomerang Media are delighted to have partnered with Young People’s Trust for the Environment (YPTE) to help raise awareness of COP26 and inspire young people to help make a change, with the launch of Boomerang’s ‘Design a Climate Action Poster’ competition.

School students between the ages of 8-18 years were tasked with designing a poster to persuade and inspire the public to become more environmentally aware about climate change and lead environmentally friendly designs.

The competition was promoted to over 1,500 primary and secondary schools across the UK through sister company, Boomerang Education, and received close to 350 entries.

Winning designs were selected from three age categories, with winning entries, shown above, from:

  • Beau Bennett – Goldstone Primary School in Hove (Winner – 8-10 years category)
  • Aidan Hart – St Michael’s CE High School in Chorley (Winner – 11-14 years category)
  • Isabella Lee – The Ladies’ College in Guernsey (Winner – 15-18 years category)

The winning poster designs are currently being displayed on over 1,500 D6 screens around the UK during the COP26 conference (31st October – 12th November 2021), with kind permissions of leisure venue landlords, including PureGym, Nuffield Health gyms, Vue Entertainment cinemas and Places Leisure centres, as well as shopping malls. Winners will receive digital design tablets, with runner up prizes of STABILOGreen pen sets kindly donated by STABILO. All entries can be viewed here.

The judging panel, made up of advertising media specialists as well as the climate change sector and education experts, included Adrian Cotterill – Editor of DailyDOOH, Roy Shepherd – Head of Out-of-Home at Goodstuff, Sam Whigham – Founder at Wilton London, Martin Smith – Director at Boomerang Media, Paul Capon – Creative Director at Baboo Design, Peter Littlewood – Director at Young Peoples Trust for the Environment and Alice Carpenter – Head of Art at Wellington College in Berkshire.
